Iraq War Veteran

August 7 2007
Our country is in grave danger. As we speed towards spiritual, environmental and financial disaster, much of our country remains
blissfully lost in consumption, work and entertainment. As we have seen in recent weeks, our very infrastructure can no longer sustain
us at the ever increasing level we demand. Our soldiers in Iraq and the Iraqi people are dying daily in Iraq and we, as a nation, really
do not grasp that we are committing a genocide on the Iraq nation. Why? Not for 9-11 or for weapons of mass destruction. No. For oil and war profiteering. That is why 3,670+ soldiers have died. That is why the number of soldiers returning with post traumatic stress is sky rocketing. I was against the war before my daughter left for Iraq, and when she thankfully returned after being subjected to combat and being sexually abused by her squad leader MLester, I knew in my heart that is was imperative that we bring our troops home immediately. There is chaos and disorder among our troops that puts them in even greater danger than if they were there actually serving and protecting our country for some nobel cause. They are being used and worst of all abused. And what of our Nation back here at home. What of the people who have no food, homes or medical care here in the United States? We recently lost our home to a fire and are now temporarily homeless. We are so fortunate that we have the resources to rebuild much of what we had. And how blessed that no one, but our pets, were hurt or lost in the fire. I think of not only the Iraqi people, but of the people of New Orleans who are still homeless and the lack of care and response from the United States Executive
branch. Shame on them for allowing the suffering in New Orleans to continue. Or the rescue workers in New York from 9-11 who are lacking the medical care needed from their exposure after the towers fell. The list of people suffering because of this administration is endless.
It is past the time for Impeachment, it is time for Arrests. The executive branch of the United States government has committed murder on many levels and instead of listening to the people, the political leaders are flailing their hands and completely helpless to stop the monster in which they created by allowing the invasion of Iraq. The military and executive branches of our Nation are untouchable and there is no one but us to blame. If you have not yet done anything to stop the war on Iraq and the war to stop the destruction of our environment, the time is now.
Peace~
