Joe Anybody's
Tips On Downloading
Bittorent Files

The following is an example that I quickly put together to help watch files or downloads that are in a file sharing  / torrent format

(Indy Media pictured below can be found here)

bittorrentexampe1_myblog.jpg

So how can you open / save and watch these videos?

First, before you download your Bittorrent File

 – you will need your “Bittorrent client

There are many kinds – I will have a link at the very bottom of this page

that mentions other Bittorrent programs and info one could choose to use.

(see bottom)

I, Joe Anybody, prefer “[ABC Another Bittorrent]”

I will try in my own word to describe what I do to use this downloading, sharing, and then watching videos "torrent" program.

This is referred to as a “Bittorrent” format and or also called “peer 2 peer” or “File Sharing”.

I use the client (player / software) that is called

ABC [Yet Another Bittorrent]

So lets go download our ABC client ...start by following my prompt

Here below is what the page looks like

– you will click on the first link that says

Download via Sourceforge” which is just like this screenshot below:

   click  -->        ABC-win32-v3.1exe (installer)    <--

bittorrentexampe2_myblog.jpg

This causes your computer to .........download and save the program "unopened"

When you have download the ABC program …you need to then ....go and,

“open it from where it was filed when you downloaded it

(I myself have a folder called “downloads” in my computer directory to hold all my downloads)

Once you located the file .......then..... if you double click on it .....it will open to The Wizard

The wizard will un- pack and install onto your computer the needed program

{ which is your Torrent client/software from ABC }

As in the screenshot below ......click the "I Accept"

…then click “ Next >

bittorrentexampe3_myblog.jpg

You now see in this screenshot below :….it is showing you where the program from ABC will be installed at (in your “program ”folder) so go ahead......

And click “INSTALL” at the bottom of screen

Once installed you will have an icon on your Desktop to open this "program file" whenever you need to use it.

It should open automatically when it recognizes a bit torrent file being downloaded by you in the future, so in that case it will automatically start doing the work you want it to do. Like downloading into your ABC client .... the torrent file you want ... and when  ever you see one on the Internet as in the very top picture of this page just click on the link .....

(There are lots of bit torrent files on the Internet just google the word and get started)

bittorrentexampe4_myblog.jpg

Now the next part I will explain is how to use your new client to accomadte you and allow you to watch your new files you are sharing.

Since Bittorrent is a file sharing program .....

.....the whole process works like this.

As you are downloading, you are also sharing with other people just like you.

These people all are in a group sharing the version we all have of the file on our computers. The more that have the file and are UP and SHARING the better and faster this all works. In fact once you get the full file you should leave it open in your ABC client so to “keep sharing” and continuing the process.

Without you sharing this whole peer 2 peer sharing cannot work. So get your ABC player working and keep the finished version open and up to share for at least 24 hours or more after you are finished.

I sometimes leave it open for a week or more to “help out the cause of peer 2 peer sharing!”

Below is a screenshot of my ABC client that has just finished downloading the full complete file.

Notice under “progress” tab I am 100% done?

I will keep this running for a day or so to help.

But now I have the complete movie / video / download from

the internet website that had the file-sharing-torrent network and

the video or file I wanted I now have!

bittorrentscreenshot5.jpg

Cool huh?

See the green Arrow alog the top by the red asuare?

That arrow starts your downloading process if for any reason it gets stopped.

If you close your computer in the middle of downloading you can reopen the client and click on the green arrow to finish up (the red box is to stop the torrent)

Keep track where your completed 100% file is being “saved to” in your client and on your hard drive.

When you go to the saved folder that is holding the 100% completed file, which you can see is .....your freshly downloaded file

....... just double click on it to watch it as you normally would do ….

The ABCclient does not actually  “show” your video …. It only helps you download it from the peer 2 peer network. You can use either windows media player, winamp, realplayer or my favorite that works for even DVD files is the “MPlayer” to watch your new torrent download.

See the file now which is at 100% completed is no longer a torrent file - your done with the torrent part!

- Your file is "now" a normal file like you need and wanted in fact now you can easily watch, burn, or upload to the net or a disk.

Here is their download page for their media video player Mplayer I like to use.

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

Use your Bittorrent client (ABC) to download the setup install file –

 (cool huh)!!!!

Just follow instructions I explained above to get your Mplayer using the torrent protocal. When your Mplayer is up and running ….. by right clicking on any movie, file in your explorer directory a box opens that offers you the option to “open with” choose your Mplayer to open file and watch the video

Give it a try

Remember the steps for the first time user which are:

  1. download the ABC client
  2. open and install it - use their Wizard to walk you through it
  3. when the install is done …now….go to site with video or file you want to watch
  4. right click on file – download it - and then go to your folder and open it when its fully downloaded
  5. to open it right click on the file (it should be a bittorrent file format) and choose the option “open with” – here you choose to open with ABC
  6. ABC will now be open and running your file as a download – click tab to see the ABC program that is now open and in “operation –file sharing and downloading your video”
  7. when it is up to 100 % it is ready to watch in your Mplayer that you should have also installed you are now “good to go” . Sometimes the upload my take days if no one is sharing this file – be patient it eventually

I highly recommend the movie “Fuck the Corporate Media

Yes the language may be harsh – but hey so is the reality

And my friend, the corporate media has got America by the throat

And that is why joe Anybody also is one to be saying-

 “fuck the corporate media”
